Title IX proceedings are complex. They follow a strict set of federally mandated rules, and are set up in a way that seems to favor the accuser. The investigations can move swiftly and present difficult questions, including whether the accused should give a statement to the Title IX investigator. Sometimes Title 9 investigations run parallel to criminal investigations, and the intersection of the two can be difficult to navigate.
